My big chop experience

March 10,2013 was the day I did the BC ( big chop)!!!!! I was excited but very scared, I didn't know how people would take the fact that I was going to cut all my hair off, even my husband was a little negative about me cutting my hair and going natural, but I just knew this was going to be the best for my hair. Note, I had no idea what I was to do after my big chop. So the first day waking up with natural hair, I was mad that I did it. I kept questioning myself, asking myself why did I cut my hair off? I had to step back and remember why I cut my hair off in the first place. I wanted heathy hair, I wanted to be free in my skin, I wanted to be natural because I was sick of putting perm in my hair! When I thought of all the reasons, I begin to do my research. What do I do after my BC? The information begin to flow, and I start feeling good about my decision. I begin to find out about my hair type and find out what would be the best regimen and products for my hair. There was a lot of trial and error, but after 4 months of being natural and a whole lot I mean a whole lot of research on what is best for my hair, I have learned a regimen and now have staple products. This is just the beginning of my journey!
My hair is gone!!!!!!
I did it!!!!! My big chop!!!!!

Why natural?

When I think about women going back to natural, I always had a negative thought. I felt you should not go natural if you did not have good hair. Good hair? What's good hair? As I begin to think, I found out that it's not about good hair, but about healthy hair ,whether perm was your thing or natural. So the big question for me was "should I go natural?" and "why did I want to go natural"?  I have had perm hair from day one, that was like the big thing when I was growing up, straight long hair. I liked my perm hair but could figure out why it was not growing long like other girls. I had to see what all this natural hair talk was all about, so I begin to YouTube and looking at different channels, and boy did I find some amazing information about natural hair. I loved the way it looked, and what you could do to it. So I took the information and begin my transition Oct.10,2012. My transitioning period was very easy for me because I kept my hair, in buns, ponytails and braids, but of course I was getting really bored and wanted to see what my natural hair really was going to look like, so I cut a small back piece of my hair, and love what I saw. I then begin to research the BC known as the big chop, I was not ready to cut all my hair off, so I set a big chop day and stuck to it. March 15, 2013 was my big chop day !!!!!! I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I never researched on how to talk care of my natural hair until after I did my big chop! I only knew to keep heat off my hair and keep it moist but ohhhhh it was a whole different story after researching a few of my hair crush, they had this thing down pack, regimen? Mud wash? Co-wash?  I no idea what I was doing and no idea where to start!  Was I ready????  Stay toon more of my story to come!!!!!!
